A digital television system that is similar to the current standards in image resolution and wide and high regard for display. A class of digital television (DTV) that refers to the 480i format. 480i is an interlaced video format that produces a full frame of 480 lines of video in two successive fields. The first field includes the odd lines and the second field includes the even lines. Sometimes used to refer to regular television. Each frame we see is divided into 720 columns and 576 lines of data. The source equipment we use in the UK (from a normal aerial, VCR or cable/satellite receiver) transmits each frame to the display in interlaced format. The picture and sound will be clearer than the NTSC, and its nature will allow digital transmission over an agenda for the same bandwidth at the same time. The resolution of SDTV is typical of 480i or 480p and offers discernible improvement over conventional analog NTSC picture resolution, with less noise; similar to DVD or satellite TV quality but not considered high-definition television (HDTV). |
