Optical Coating ultimately creates the colors in your projected image.

A variety of multi-layer, cross-array layout, surfaced with a textured matte white optical coating and black backed are placed in high-quality lenses for different purposes tO reduce the incidence of hot spotting. DA-100 WA is a light gray 1.0 gain wide angle coating and DA-075 WA is a 0.75 gain light gray coating.

One reason is to minimize the amount of reflected light behind the lamp, and the amount of ambient light that passes when leaving the lens focuses light to prevent light penetration for optimal picture quality . Generally good coatings can add 15% or more of a gloss to the lenses. Other coatings are used to filter colors.
