The relative brightness between the brightest and darkest of the image. The higher the ratio clearer images will be displayed because of the greater difference in brightness across the image view. Contrast Shows the relationship between blacks and whites in an image. The larger the contrast ratio will be better blacks. Most of the buyers are very conscious in the range of contrast of the projector they are buying but they do not have the concept that the screen you are buying can complement or contrast does not yield the projector. Contrast is how well a screen can produce blacks or whites. This spec is usually expressed as a ratio, such as 1200:1 for example. What the contrast ratio measures is how many 'steps' the screen has between displaying full black and full white -- in other words, how many shades of grey it's capable of producing. A set with a high contrast ratio can reproduce dark scenes with plenty of detail, producing images with a smooth shift from light to dark areas without any patches. |
